OVERVIEW
Lighthouse NW is a small, local, non-profit organization that helps local families escape and recover from domestic abuse situations. They provide in-person and online resources, services, education, and support to families who have experienced or are experiencing domestic abuse and to local communities to help with prevention and intervention.

BACKGROUND
In 2016 Lighthouse was struggling to have a professional online presence. Unfortunately, due to limited information and experience, they had a rough and rudimentary website and were using a predatory hosting service which charged them several hundred dollars a month in exchange for very little. My main task was to find them a better hosting service and set them up with a simple but professional-looking website. After much searching, I got them a great deal on hosting as well as free email services, which saved them several hundred dollars a month, which they were then able to feed back into their organization. ​
THE WEBSITE
MESSAGE
The purpose of the LighthouseNW.org website is to inform the public about domestic violence and how Lighthouse NW is combatting the problem. Included on the website are educational materials and links to available resources for individuals directly affected by domestic violence.
BRANDING
Branding developed in tandem with the website. Purple was chosen as the main accent color as it is the color for domestic violence awareness. We paired purple with a warm gray background to give the site a clean look and soften the impact of the purple. We also used soft black for the text and other small accents to add contrast. ​​
The home page banner has a softened image in the background to create a welcoming and calming introduction.
Graphics were created to reflect this aesthetic.
SUMMARY
This website is continually evolving as we strive to streamline the delivery of beneficial content. I have enjoyed working with Lighthouse over the last seven years and am hopeful that my contribution has made a difference in someone's life while benefitting and informing our community.
